Inbound Links

There is one factor that will get your website at the top of the search results on Google…… and that’s inbound links (aka ‘inlinks’).

Inbound Links

What are inbound links?

An inbound link is any website that links to your website.

What are the best inbound links?

  1. Anchored text hyperlinks
  2. Coming from a website that has a high PageRank (PR 3 and above)
  3. That is related to your industry/business.

All those three factor are essential to gaining the best link juice with you inbound links.

I recently attended a SEO conference and found many presenters talking openly about how they buy links. Google maintains buying links is illegal but they do not set the law. The Google algorithm can not pick up if a link is bought or naturally placed on a page. Of course when buying links it is very important to pace your links on pages with 5 outbound links or less on the page, ensure that they are ‘follow links’, and that the page has a good page rank.

Lastly, when buying inlinks it is important that you leave a ‘natural footprint’. This means don’t interlink all your sites, then buy each site a link all from the same website. Google’s algorithm is complex enough to pick up on this and all your sites will be blacklisted and fall off Google.

The main point about inlinks I want to highlight to webmasters is:

  1. It is still important to get ‘no follow’ links from important places like, facebook, twitter, Wikipedia etc hence invest time in both ‘follow’ and ‘no follow’ link generation.
  2. Be smart about the link web you create so as to gain maximum link juice and hence best organic positions from your inlinks without being blacklisted and falling off Google altogether.
  3. The law of large numbers applies to inlinks. When you have thousands of inlinks to your site, (even if a few are spammy inlinks) Google will not punish you and you will gain all the link juice you can and rank extremely high on Google.

So in the end, your off-page link building (buying) operations become the most important factor to your high organic positions and good amounts of traffic. And lets not forget with a good website:

Traffic = Conversions = Profit

That’s the end game!
